The brief: RNIB Northern Ireland’s hugely successful workshop ‘The Dark Experience’ gives sighted people an insight into what it’s really like to be blind. Participants are blindfolded, then attempt everyday activities such as making breakfast, getting dressed and eating out. They realise they must quickly acquire new planning, problem-solving and teamworking strategies.
RNIB saw the opportunity to offer this unique and powerful experience to the corporate market. Working with RNIB’s in-house design team, I helped develop concepts for a marketing brochure, then wrote copy appropriate to the preferred route and target audience – which we defined as HR, governance and professional development specialists.
I wrote in a way that conveyed the intensity and enjoyment of the experience, while highlighting the workshop’s benefits both to individuals and organisations.
